Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. This is the regular photo version dark blue sky (I also have a grainy version that looks good printed on a cotton paper that gives more of a retro look and a version with a lighter blue sky).
